Where Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP) is located?

Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP) is situated at km 133.8 (nautical mile 72.2) of the River Danube in the South of Moldova, sandwiched between Romania (and therefore the European Union) and Ukraine. GIFP benefits from its location on international trade and transportation routes such as the Rhine-Main-Danube waterway corridor which connects the Black Sea, 14 European countries and the North Sea.

Is the Passenger Port part of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port?

No. The Giurgiulesti Passenger Port is adjacent to GIFP and owned and operated by the State Institution “Capitania Portului Giurgiulesti”.

Who owns GIFP?

ICS “Danube Logistics” SRL, a Moldovan limited liability company, is the general investor, owner and operator of Giurgiulesti International Free Port. Danube Logistics’ shareholders are the Dutch EASEUR Holding BV and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, holding 80% and 20% of Danube Logistics shares respectively.

What services GIFP offers?

GIFP offers its clients, including residents of GIFP’s industrial free zone, a wide range of services: Land Lease Services, Office Lease Services, Logistics Services and Consulting services.

What are the component parts of GIFP?

GIFP’s entire territory has a status to that of a free economic zone and consists of an Oil Terminal, a Grain Terminal, an Office Park and an industrial zone. In addition, to these facilities Danube Logistics plans to build bulk and general cargo terminals within GIFP IN 2010.

What is the capacity of the Oil Terminal?

The Oil Terminal consists of one berth, a tank farm consisting of eight tanks with a total storage capacity of 63,600 m3 and a truck loading facility. The berth can accept sea vessels and river barges with draughts of 7m and can unload or load up to three different types of oil products simultaneously. The maximum transshipment capacity of the Oil Terminal is in excess of 1 million tons per annum.

What is the capacity of the Grain Terminal?

The Grain Transshipment Terminal started its operation in October 2009. The capacity of the Terminal allows it to receive up to 3000 metric tons per day of grain commodity by means of railway and road transportation, but also to load maritime vessels with a capacity of up to 7000 metric tons, with a loading speed of 300 metric tons per hour.

When will the bulk and general cargo terminals start their operations?

The bulk and general cargo terminals are envisaged to start their operations by mid 2010.

What are the advantages for locating your business within the industrial zone of GIFP?

The Industrial zone of GIFP provides national and international investors an excellent location for their investments and businesses on the border with the European Union, in a low cost environment, with tri-modal transport infrastructure and a unique tax and customs framework. GIFP’s entire 120 ha territory has a status of a free economic zone. The residents of GIFP have the right to undertake any activity ordinarily allowed throughout the Republic of Moldova. Danube Logistics offers potential investors the opportunity to set up their businesses within the industrial zone or the existing office park by leasing to investors land and/or offices. Leased land in GIFP is connected to electricity, gas, water, telecommunications, road infrastructure as well as in close proximity to rail and port infrastructure. How to become a resident of GIFP?

A resident of GIFP can be any legal person of the Republic of Moldova or of any other country, registered in the Republic of Moldova as to carry out business operations, leasing part of the territory or of the facilities of GIFP and registered with the government’s representative regulating GIFP.
